The Chi-coms take note
China's Communist mouthpiece, Xinhua, picks up a wire story about our new poll on Western separatism.
Out there, of course, they call it "splittism", and their answer to "alienation" is threats of military violence.

Very interesting links, and too see that the poll has taken on international attention.
The "Dignified Rant" regarding China and possible intentions to reunite Taiwan with the mainland conjure up thoughts of the Canadian Military forcing Canadians to stay together.
Imagine our finest flying around the western provinces in their 50 year old jeeps days after we declare independence. Our military men and women who can not even shoot or stop foreign murderers are going to try and corral us and force us to remain in a country that regards their own military as some third tiered government department.
Bring on the Western Seperation, and the military if Martin sends them. Nothing to be afraid of from either.

We could separate and because we have some many resources to sell China and others .. we could call ourselves WestMart.
Just kidding .. I am all for cutting that tumor called Central Canada from our collective asses.
Keep those polls coming ... not Polish immigrants (although they are far more desireable than the current influx), but the polls that give hope to those who want something better than Paul Martin's fetid swamp.

1. We don't have 50-year-old Jeeps any more. The replacement vehicles are somewht newer. As for "cannot shoot", please do not try to test this staement.
2. The Canadian Armed Forces are not an arm of the Government of Canda but are a separate entity under that name. It would grieve me greatly if comments as at #1 above were taken seriously. I might presume someone's knowledge of our country's history was inadequate.

The Armed Forces are not an arm of the government of Canada, and are separate from it? Holy shit! Did they finally close down DND and contract it out to Pinkertons?

Heinrichs, Canada is a confederation not a federation. That means Albertans can opt out.
Being a Calgarian, I know we have a very impressive military history in my city.
As a child I used to spend a lot of time looking at the battle flags hanging over the memorial plaques which stand in Central and Knox United Churches in our downtown core.
Constitutionally the resources of a province belong to the people of a province. Constitutionally Canada is a confederation not a federation like the US. Does lawfullness mean nothing to easterners? Maybe you're itching for your own Tianamen square?
We have our own manifest destiny. You are pointing the way.
I suppose you would make war on us to steal our oil? Thugs.

If seperation were to take place, the US would immediately begin very agressive negotiations... to secure the oil before the chineese

If Alberta were to seperate I don't see any sort of need for aggressive ngotiations or even negotiations. It would simply be "Friends"? "Friends"! and then discussing any border security Alberta might need (not counting Alberta's southern border of course). At least until Alberta formed it's owm army or made arrangements with the US about "the details".

Ones own country is Alberta friend, that red rag you fight for means nothing to us true ALBERTANS.
I have heard so little about this "centennial" in Alberta I've forgotten about it more than once, very indicative of the resentment you "people" in the East are so apt- to ignore
