BSE: Border Open
In the wake of the Federal Appeals Court ruling of earlier today, US Ag Secretary Mike Johanns has just announced that the US border has been reopened to Canadian cattle.

And the best part is: the Federals had absolutely nothing to do with it.
This is a victory for Alberta because we took the initative to handle this issue by ourselves.
The federals showed little if any interest in this issue because Ontario was not affected.
The celebration at the Calgary Stampede just got a little bit bigger.
This proves for all time that Alberta is able to handle our own affairs. Let us use this lesson to remove federal/corporate influence from our lives.

I'll be looking forward to eating a steak from Alberta.
I think Alberta and the US are perfectly able to work out solutions without some remote third party like Ottawa being involved.
After all, it's always easier to work with friends who share things in common with you.

"Any self-respecting rancher would shoot, shovel, shut up"
"yeh, we'll have a huge cull"
Yessir, Ralph Klein did a world of good on the border issue. And the record shows that Paul Martin never raised the issue with George Bush. Mindyou, his iraq stance may not have helped much.
Taxpayers, both through their federal and provincial emissaries, subsidized ranchers by the $billions. Gov't of Alberta piggybacked on Ottawa's amicus brief to the courts.
if bush didn't have a bunch of protectionist demmiecrat dumbasses to beat last year, the border woulda been open last year.
"This proves for all time that...." facts help advance an argument.
Separatist rhetoric does too, mind you.
