Canada Day will never be the same

Img_0829_stdTHIS IS NOW CONSIDERED A CANADIAN MARRIAGE

Canada's Liberal government passed a law to legalize homosexual marriage by changing the definition from "union between one man and one woman" to "two persons." The majority of Canadians oppose this change but the Liberals implemented "closure" in parliament in order to fast-track passage of this bill and cut off debate. The Bloc Quebecois want to separate from Canada but, through their support of this, they will leave this as a parting gift for the rest of Canada before they separate.

While ordinary Canadians struggle to pay their bills and to raise their kids, this, my friends, is the Canadian government's top priority.

The revolutionaries of the Upper and Lower Canada Rebellion and the founding fathers of Confederation are turning in their graves. Happy Canada Day indeed.

Canada Day? Don't you mean Dominion Day?

Any bets as to when Polygamy will have to be recognized? Incestuous Relationships? Beastiality?

If every religion in the world over the ages has firmly believed that marriage was a union between a man and a women, what group of people could be so highly intelligent to correct them?

158 criminals sitting on their fat asses in Ottawa while the rest of us try to make ends meet.

We need a Revolution.

If you think two men in leather are common representatives of gay people, then I suppose that participants on The Surreal Life or some other sensational "reality" show are representatives of heterosexuals. The fringe does not represent the mainstream, and most gay people aren't nearly that flamboyant or that fetishized or that ... interesting, really. Just like heterosexuals love their wacky entertainers and celebrities, gay people have their envelope-pushing sensationalists. I've never dressed in drag or leather in my life, and neither have the vast majority of gay people I know. We certainly know how to dress and behave at a wedding, since so many of us are tailors and florists and priests, if the stereotypes that heteros promote about us are to be believed.

How small-minded and short-sighted, to point and one unusual couple of men in harnesses and try to use that to describe someone relatively ordinary like me. How ... sensationalist.

Not that the truth will change the minds of people in the throes of homo-hysteria, but it just isn't true what you're claiming.

"If every religion in the world over the ages has firmly believed that marriage was a union between a man and a women, what group of people could be so highly intelligent to correct them?"

This is incorrect. Christianity, from it's founding has, with the exception of some minor Mormon cults, endorsed this model. Judaism has endorsed it for a while now, and Westernized branches of Islam endorse it, but Middle-eastern and African Islam do not.

Buddhism is not overly concerned with marriage at all and in India the final outlawing of polygamy is causing concerns about mass conversions to Islam.

Historically, the most firmly held model of marriage has been one man and more than one woman.

Again, arguments against anything will be more effective if they are not supported by nonsense.

Message sent to the Globe's John Ibbitson today:

'True Intolerance

Dear Mr Ibbitson,

In your Globe article "So much political blood shed over this vote", June 29, you write:

"Healthy conservatism...does not, or should not, assert the right of white, Christian heterosexual males of a certain age to limit the rights of everyone else. The past 100 years of social history has been dedicated, on good days, to constraining the dominance of this minority...And congratulate yourself [reader]. You are part of the most diverse, tolerant and open-minded place on Earth."

Since it was that minority that has controlled politics and Parliament for the last century, it follows that the minority in fact constrained itself and actually expanded the rights of everyone else. For that reality you should have been congratulating these people instead of presenting them as ogres to be feared and loathed.

I would also remind you that it was the Conservative government of Sir Robert Borden that gave the franchise to women in Canada, and that it was John Diefenbaker's Progressive Conservatives who enacted the Bill of Rights. It was Brian Mulroney's government that took a very strong lead in opposing apartheid in South Africa.

The first Chinese-Canadian MP (1957) was Douglas Jung, a Progressive Conservative--"he vowed not to join the Liberal Party of Canada because of its racist legislation against Chinese in the past". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Douglas_Jung
And the present group of Conservative MPs includes substantial number of women and non-whites.

It is you who are intolerant and close-minded.

Regards,

Mark Collins

I would totally do them. They are so cute and hot!

I would think that you conservative folks out west would want your traditions of incestous interbreeding to be recognized by law next!

You lose, pinheads! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
