Benedict XVI

It is safe to assume that Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, er, Pope Benedict XVI (that will take some getting use to) is not a South Park conservative. But doubtless in the minds of the media he is conservative, even a hard-line conservative, sometimes an ultra-conservative. Jonathan V. Last at the Daily Standard has typical examples of the coverage of the new pope by the herd of independent minds (aka the MSM) and wonders: "The media clichés are already hardening around Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, just hours after becoming Pope Benedict XVI. Will they brook any dissent from the caricature they're drawing?" Probably not.

Coverage of the House of Commons not up?

Why not when the future of the Liberal government is at stake?

Monte Solberg: "Apparently the Prime Minister has entered the witness protection programme." PM PM, aka Mr. Dithers-Brushman, has not been in the House either Monday or Tuesday. Hiding in his office closet? Come out, Paul. We know you are in there. Jack Layton has a proposal for you....

mazz - I see you don't understand tradition, the Blushing Bride has to find something:
Old - Maurice Strong
New - Little Scottie Brisson
Borrowed - Taxpayer $$
and the Blushing Bride to be, can't see the Preening Groom to be until the day of the nuptials - explains disappearance - Libs big on tradition you know.

Back to the post - Q. Why is the new pope perceived to be conservative?
A. He hasn't announced yet; that priests can marry; that homosexuals are entitled to special status and sainthood; that all contraception has papal approval, especially late term abortions; that the next pope should be a woman (and the term "pope" should be changed to something non-gender specific); that all Muslims should receive a special papal dispensation to go directly to Heaven because of those terrible crusades; and last, but not least, the UN should be designated the divine successor to the Holy Roman Empire for its tireless efforts at making the world a better place to live.

You nailed this one Jack, we've seen this scenario over and over, only the disgruntled Catholics/ex-Catholics will be given air time by the msm.

Society morals is constantly changing, whereas the Church and Pope teach faith and morals at a consistancy. If the Church teaching went by secular society always than society would be the Church.Faith and morals the Church and Pope are authoritive. As is the Bible. The Roman Catholic Church goes by both the Bible and past traditions with on going new tradition which is suppose to be lead by the Holy Spirit.
