Not just public schools suffer from creeping socialism

Meatriarchy notes this story about a father upset at an assignment (writing a protest letter about the treatment of Omar Khadr) his ten-year-old son was given in school:

"Grahame your son may be too young for such an assignment but not to young for indoctrination into today's version of creeping socialism. At least you have found out that the education system has become a bastion of left wing propaganda before he goes to college."

It's not only public schools, however. Two years ago my then 12-year-old son at a private school in Toronto was told that as part of his geography class he had to write a letter to Prime Minister Jean Chretien urging him to enact the Kyoto Protocol. After some discussion, my son was allowed to write a letter asking that the prime minister not foist the Kyoto Protocol upon the country. During one of those discussions the teacher admitted that he had no idea that there any defensible arguments against the treaty.
