Frum's Diagnosis
David Frum, on his NRO blog, speculates about Arafat's "blood disease" that dare not speak its name (scroll all the way down).
"We know he has a blood disease that is depressing his immune system. We know that he has suddenly dropped considerable weight – possibly as much as 1/3 of all his body weight. We know that he is suffering intermittent mental dysfunction. What does this sound like?"
AIDS?
Well, according to some reports, Arafat is a friend of Dorothy's, though the rumours are entirely unconfirmed and really creepy (though his young, blonde wife Suha spends roughly all her time in Paris). Of course , it could have also come from all that blood the man has on his hands.
But while Arafat's AIDS, er, I mean aides, run around assuring the world he is fine, and that his reign will endure ad infinitum, as promised, French doctors (who tend to know more about these things than, say, Saeb Erakat) have been mum on Arafat's condition . And as Frum notes, if it were AIDS, it would seem the kind of thing the media would kindly keep under their hats. Well, except maybe these guys.

With leukemia and other forms of cancer ruled out, the list of possible diseases is narrowing.
A low blood platelet count is a sign of a weakened immune system. In addition to cancer, the low count could be attributed to bleeding ulcers, colitis, liver disease, lupus, or HIV. It is believed that ulcers and colitis have already been ruled out.
The site notes that "for several years there have been suggestions that Arafat was bisexual."
