For the record, Liberals out buying the vote
In case anyone hasn't noticed, it should be pointed out the federal Liberals have been busy buying Ontario with the help of the McGuinty gang. Here is a provincial press release from yesterday touting the federal investment in the GO Transit, with two fed Libs right at the top.
Here is another from the day before, May 6, noting the joint funding for improvements to the Niagara Falls area highways and border crossings, with Tony Valeri mentioned first and, farther down, quoted first.
The same day we have yet another provincial press release which marks, right at the beginning the federal government's "$298 million over five years to infrastructure projects in small towns and rural municipalities in Ontario."
And on May 3, we have another marking the contributions to people with disabilities and noting that the "federal commitment of approximately $65 million annually for Ontario will be increased by an amount to be determined in the near future" (probably during the election) with Paul Martin's name before the premier's.
In the press releases of the week before you'll see almost no mention of the federal government.
btw If you scan all the provincial websites, you will notice as I have that the "McGuinty government" (as so many of their press releases begin) is by far the most nauseating propaganda machine in the country, full of puff and fluff and empty intellectual calories. Of course all governments do this, but for some reason the PR people in Ontario manage to set a reader's teeth on edge more than in other provinces. This is not a left-right thing, since Saskatchewan and Manitoba show as much restraint--so far as that goes in getting the good government spin out there--as, say, Nova Scotia or Alberta (and they are pretty fluffy here in Alberta). Nor is it a Liberal thing, since BC press releases are quite readable. Perhaps our Ontario Gunners and readers have something to contribute on this.
