NDP = thief
'Austin' comments on Adam Daifallah's post on Svend Robinson's shoplifting confession: "That makes 14% of the current NDP caucus that are admitted shoplifters. A proud moment for social democracy, no doubt. (Then again, the tax rates advocated by most socialists amount to property theft of a different kind.)"

» Svend Robinson == Claude Charron? from Le blog de Polyscopique
The NDP MP Svend Robinson is temporarily retiring from political life after having stolen a jewel ring (he later contacted the police) This oddly reminds me of the shoplift committed in an Eaton in 1982 by Claude Charron, then a... [Read More]

I seem to remember the phrase "property is theft" from my undergrad leftist enthusiasms. I had not realized they meant it to be taken literally.

How much does big buisness spend or lose to shoplifting every year? Add that up to all the taxes the scocialist NDP would like to milk from big buisness and they would go bust.
As for Svend's display infront of the camera in tears,I've seen better acting in a porn movie.

Not being brave, I am posting my early comment on Robinson's misadventure here on my own blog.

Yep Ghost: I think it was proto-anarchist, Kropotkin (she said pedantically). However, he was a prince and all, so consider the source!
Very bad acting indeed.

I'm doing some work on this topic right now. In the United States, the National Retail Security Survey report on retail theft indicated that U.S. retailers have lost $US 9.7 billion in shoplifting during 2002. Interestingly, they have lost even more to employee theft: $15.1 billion.

Maybe Svend's exercise in "income redistribution" and strees is because he's just so torn up over the fact that capitalists have more fun.
Nah. Too obvious.

Why is this a big surprise to anybody? The NDP/Left advocate kleptocracy as a viable system of government and social policy. Svend's just following his ideology to it's logical conclusions. Ditto the other 14 % of NDPs who admit to this behaviour.
Ideas really do have consequences in the behaviour of people who hold them.
Now... how to convince people in Canada that Svend's theft of a $5000.00 ring is actually a lesser crime than the bandits in Ottawa make out with every year (speaking of tax-season).
